100 People Can Change A Community
The Mahomet Community Foundation is proud to share the success of our newest initiative – The 100 People of Impact. This growing, community-based philanthropic group is dedicated to making a meaningful difference by supporting local charities and funding projects that directly improve life in Mahomet and the surrounding area.
We recently hosted our first annual Giving Event, where, thanks to the generosity of our members and community donors, we awarded $15,000 to two local organizations:
- Mahomet Helping Hands – $9,000
- Mahomet Community Emergency Fund – $6,000
This funding goes straight back into our community to support essential programs and services that help Mahomet thrive.
How It Works
- Annual Gatherings: Members gather once a year to nominate and select local charities that support the Mahomet community.
- Charity Nominations: Any member can nominate a charity. After a brief vetting process, a select number of organizations will be invited to present their work at the annual event.
- Voting and Donations: Members vote to determine which charity will receive funding. $100 of each member’s annual donation goes directly to the selected organization.
- Funding the Endowment: The other $100 supports the Mahomet Community Foundation endowment, which helps fund long-term local projects.

Our goal is to bring together 100+ members, which means $20,000 raised each year—half of which is awarded immediately to a selected charity, and half invested for the future of our community.
